Dehli, India

While it is quite a drive from Agra and the iconic Taj Mahal, the distance is doable and Dehli offers more choices of accommodation, eateries and other outings.

While the Taj tops the to-do list, the Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Lodi Gardens, the Akshardham spiritual-cultural campus and the Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets of old Delhi should be enough to keep any honeymooning couple busy day after day.

Tour packages complete with a driver and air-conditioning are the best way to surmount the traffic and beat the heat but don’t forget to also slow it down a notch, unwind, experience a soothing Indian head message and drink in some local culture.

Bali, Indonesia

One of the honeymoon capitals of the world, pearly white sand beaches, stunning resorts with their infinity pools and wooden stilt guest houses make the chilled back atmosphere of Bali hard to resist.

Not just a beach paradise, Bali also offers beautiful temples, coral reefs, volcanic mountains, an elephant safari park, adventure rafting, botanical gardens, rice paddies and plenty of yoga retreats. Couples who want to jazz things up a bit at night will find plenty of activity in Kuta in the south of the island.

Maldives

It goes without saying that the Maldives is among the world’s most famous honeymoon destination spots and for good reason. The islands of the Maldives make up an undisturbed oasis of scenic beauty (making it a popular destination wedding location in Asia too), a quiet paradise of exotic fruits, clear warm waters and busy marine life.
Why not learn to scuba, eat at the world’s only underwater restaurant Ithaa or experience the underwater spa at the Huvafen Fushi resort? Don’t limit your honeymoon love to only one island, hopping is the name of the game and there are plenty to choose from.

Singapore

A Mecca for international shipping, shopping, tourists and nightlife, Singapore is a financial hub. The city is a flourishing one filled with shops, restaurants and things to see and do.

If time is short, start the list with a visit to the botanical gardens, stop off for a Singapore sling at the famous Raffles Hotels, pick up souvenirs at the waterfront arcade and nightlife complex Quayside Isle and then grab a ferry to the unspoilt, pristine Lazarus, Saint John’s, Kusu, and Sisters’ Islands. Fit in a pit stop for a delicious Pad Thai!

Phi Phi Islands, Thailand

The ultimate in picture perfect honeymoon destinations, the Phi Phi islands are a world of jungle, beach and unspoilt beauty. Scuba loving couples will find the Phi Phi Islands a heaven for fish, coral reefs and shark watching.

Seychelles

With 115 islands and a myriad of sweeping bays, resorts, sparkling beaches, and mountain trails to explore, honeymooners are spoilt for choice. Named the ‘Paradise Islands’ for a reason, the Seychelles are considered to offer some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Tokyo, Japan

A world where old truly meets modern, Tokyo is a patchwork of contrasts. Historic temples and shrines sit on bustling high streets. Gardens, fresh food markets and a hoard of museums make this Asia’s answer to New York, yet another city that never sleeps.

The best way to see everything is to take in the bird’s eye view from the Tokyo Sky Tree. It opened in 2012 as the world’s tallest ‘free-standing tower’ but the entertainment district near the Tokyo Dome and Koishikawa Korakuen (the oldest and most awe inspiring Japanese gardens in the city) are also definite highlights.

Wherever you go, there will always be something new and exciting to see, although the Japanese rail pass may be of interest. Kyoto, Mount Koya, Hakone and Hiroshima are also worth a visit among many other places if you have the time.
